Getting to Quadra Island

 

Getting to Quadra is not a complicated undertaking. 

There are a few options: you can fly right into the Campbell River airport and take a shuttle from the airport to the ferry to Quadra.  The number to call to prebook is 1-250-286-3000 or you can just make the arrangements once you hit the airport. I was quoted at $15.00 to the ferry.  Cab fare is about $25.00. Just a note, in Canada, it's customary to give a tip of about 15%.

Your other option, if you're hoping to tour around on Quadra by vehicle (because you can also do it by bike, or cab) there's always the option to rent a vehicle. The ferry is located right downtown, just off Shopper's Row at the east (the ocean end) of Alder St. It is located across from the Tyee Plaza (just a note, a tyee is a large chinook salmon) The ferry is a short 12 minutes ride, and kicks off your visit with a beautiful crossing of the Discovery Passage. 

Once you arrive, with a smooth landing I'm sure, you will be in Quathiaski Cove (what everyone 'round here call 'The Cove'). If you just go with the flow the ferry traffic with travel up a hill to the plaza where you'll see a plaza (with some sweet shops). From there, head north (left in front of the grocery store) on Harper Rd. You'll hit (well, don't hit it), you'll come to a stop sign and on your right will be a plaza, across the street you'll notice our elementary school, and once you turn right you'll see the gas station is part of the plaza.

You're on Heriot Bay Rd. Drive past the school (the school should be on your lefthand side), and then make a left onto West Rd. (the first left after the school), and drive along West Rd (past the RCMP station) for about 10km. Soon you will arrive in Heriot Bay. At the plaza in Heriot Bay (where there's a grocery store and some other shops) hang a right. You'll see us about 17 seconds later on your left at the top of Taku Rd.
